Musically, A Quiet Shape Of Noise doesn’t stay in one place for very long.
There are powerful guitar-driven passages alongside atmospheric keyboards. Rhythms shift. Arrangements grow and retreat. Some songs want to fill the room; others seem happier sitting quietly in the corner.
That’s intentional.
The records that inspired Goats On The Beach rarely seemed worried about whether every song fit neatly into the same box. An album could be loud, strange, beautiful, funny and melancholy, sometimes within the space of twenty minutes.

The progressive and art-rock influences are there, particularly in the arrangements and willingness to let a song take an unexpected turn. But melody and storytelling remain at the center. However large the arrangement becomes, the song still has to mean something.
So What Is a “Quiet Shape of Noise”?
Maybe it’s a memory.
Maybe it’s the sound something leaves behind after it’s gone.
Or maybe we just liked the title.
We’re not ruling that out.
But somewhere during the making of this collection, the phrase began to feel appropriate. These are songs about things that linger: people, places, conversations, mistakes, questions and moments that continue making noise long after everything around them has gone quiet.
That’s the thread running through the record.
Not a storyline. A feeling.
